The Making of a Bespoke Listening Station

When Chivas approached us to create a bespoke piece to celebrate our partnership, we knew it would be a lot of work, but the result is well worth the effort. Here's a look at the creative process behind this one-of-a-kind piece:

We started working on the console in January of this year - while working with the Chivas team, we went through a lot of designs before honing in on the final one. We thought about repurposing Whisky barrels to create the unit, we looked at wall-mounted systems, and finally settled on a classic mid-century console.

Various initial design submissions, January 2016

After working through numerous submissions, we settled on what became the final design: a classic midcentury piece inspired by classic designers such as Ray and Charles Eames, Mihes van der Rohe, and Florence Knoll Bassett. Now that we had a piece, we needed to find a shop that could buildit to our exacting standards. We found that in White Walls Fabrication, right in Los Angeles. With many years and hundreds of large-scale projects under their belt, we knew they would be able to bring our vision to life.

Once the piece was complete, we could hardly believe our eyes - watching something like this go from concept to reality felt pretty great.

Our favorite part of this whole project? 100 percent of the sale will go to our charity partner, Starkey Hearing Foundation, as part of LSTN and Chivas' "Generosity: Amplified" initiative. You can learn more about this project at chivas.com/lstn. Learn more about the console here.
